Heirloom Hamilton

In 2021, Fall for Dance North (FFDN), in partnership with HCA Dance + Theatre, presented Heirloom, the inaugural dance series presented outdoors at Bayfront Park.

Grounded in the rhythms of percussive dance, the double bill opened with a premiere from Hamilton’s own Arzoo Dance Theatre, choreographed by Deepti Gupta, an exponent of the elegant Kathak style of Indian dance. The program concluded with the Ontario premiere of a new FFDN-commissioned collaboration between acclaimed U.S. solo artists Caleb Teicher and Nic Gareiss, who draw from tap, jazz, swing, Lindy Hop, Appalachian clogging and Irish step dance, seamlessly weaving witty informality with virtuosic technique and storytelling.

The Together in Dance Festival is a multicultural festival celebrating the unity of cultures in Hamilton through dance.

We aim to create a lasting impact and create a sense of cultural awareness and belonging in our community as a response to the pivotal need for appreciation and respect for multicultural values and heritage.
