Together in Dance a Singular Success

The inaugural gathering of great minds and talent focusing their attention on a thriving Hamilton dance scene surpassed expectations.

HCA Dance Theatre’s subcommittee set out to engage artists, community and stakeholders to explore, celebrate and develop our local talent and audiences. And on June 8, just that occurred. Beginning with a discussion featuring funding, council and dance company representatives and ending with an exciting evening of dance and celebration as part of Arts Crawl, new communities of artists and audiences were engaged with innovative approaches to dance performance.

As Artistic Director, Vitek Wincza, said, and we think all who participated would echo it, “It was so great to see such talent, passion, excitement and camaraderie as everyone came together in dedication and celebration of local dance artistry.”

There are many plans in motion to move the points from the symposium discussion forward and to build a Together in Dance Assembly to advance dance interests and happenings in Hamilton. And at the heart of it:  Dusk Dances, July 26-29 at Bayfront Park

The June 8 events were produced in partnership with the Hamilton Arts Council as part of Hamilton Arts Week.

We acknowledge the support of the Government of Canada, through the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Ontario Arts Council.
